Nicholas V. Cascarelli, Ed.D., currently serves as Wayne County health commissioner. Cascarelli has been at that post since 2015. Nick has been a public health professional for 20+ years and had previously served as the Carroll County health commissioner from 2011-2014 and served as a community health educator specializing in childhood lead poisoning prevention and tobacco prevention and control from 2000-2011 at the Mahoning County Public Health.

In his 15 years as a health commissioner, he has served on many committees including the Executive committee for the partnership for a Drug Free Wayne and Holmes counties, he has served as the chair of the Wayne County Family and Children First Council twice and is the Northeast District director for the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners. Cascarelli also had served as an active adjunct faculty member in the Department of Health Professions at Youngstown State University for over 25 years where he taught undergraduate research for allied health professionals and graduate level program planning and evaluation and community health courses.

Nick received his BA in sociology, master’s in health, and human services and doctorate in educational leadership, all from Youngstown State University.
