Tuesdays with Benefits: New MedFlex Plan for 2027

New for 2027: MedFlex Plan

For the 2027 plan year, Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ is adding a third plan option: the MedFlex Narrow Network medical plan through Medical Mutual of Ohio. MedFlex is designed to provide an additional, lower-premium medical plan option for eligible non-bargaining and AFSCME employees.

Because Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ State’s medical plan is self-funded, the University pays the actual cost of employee and dependent claims. MedFlex’s narrow network provides access to providers who have agreed to negotiated rates that provide a deeper discount to healthcare services. This in turn can help reduce the costs of medical claims paid for by the University.

MedFlex may be a strong choice for employees who want to maintain a high quality of care, pay lower premiums, and whose healthcare needs can be met by primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals and other providers participating in the MedFlex network. .
